Last post and so on

I can’t say that I liked writing in the blog. I mean, it was really troublesome to come to the university only because of this class on Tuesdays. That's probably an external factor that influenced a lot.

However, sometimes I found it interesting to read my classmates' blogs, I laughed a lot with some stories and got to know some more about people I have "shared" with for four years.

This semester has been very complicated, in academic terms it have been really hard. Running from one place to another or simply missing classes, I think it really didn't help me to improve my English level.

Honestly I discovered very large flaws in my squalid English, but for time, encouragement and, maybe, just win, I didn't put my all for the better. I didn’t have enough time.

I can’t do much, just hope to review some vocabulary and basic rules I can’t remember for the next assessment. I have to prove particularly complicated English to graduate.

I don’t really believe in bad luck, certainly I have not worked hard enough to learn English, I'm interested but I have a lot of skill. It was the same with French, I usually understand it but at the time of expressing myself is really difficult to do correctly.

I do not know how much it helped me, hopefully I will find out next Friday.

Football

A stupid thing to many people. I mean, what’s the fun behind 22 guys running after a ball? Not even I can explain what the fuzz is all about, but all I can say is that the excitement and emotion of seeing your football team playing a game isn’t comparable to any other thing! Not in matters of intensity but because of the kind of emotion you experience.

I didn’t understand much of it when I was a little boy, I didn’t even play. But one day I understood that football is capable of forging a bond in people, reuniting them in the same feeling. It’s like a war where no one dies. It’s the fun of measuring yourself with an other, without having to leave your sofa or at much cheering at the stadium.

My team, Universidad de Chile, current champion of Copa Sudamericana and the national tournament, is now in a struggle because they have to recover from an upside. Now they have to win 2 – 0 to Boca Juniors to force the penalty shots in order to get to the final game of Copa Libertadores.

Journalism Grandpa

When I entered Universidad de Chile, Gustavo Gonzalez was my first teacher. I still remember when I failed my first assignment with a 3.7, I hated him. Nonetheless, with time I had the pleasure of knowing one of the best persons and one of the finest educators that I have met in this university.

Sadly, for the new coming generations the professor retired early this year. González wrote a great book called “Caso Spiniak”. That book and his classes helped me realize how much I wanted to be a journalist.

We knew him as “Gugo”. In his retirement ceremony, students from every generation thanked him for his teachings. The most touching detail of that ceremony was when he broke into tears remembering the kind words expressed by one of his students, and also when he dedicated some verses for his loving wife.

Someday I would like to be remembered like he was, as a generous and kind person, an insightful teacher. People that in today’s world no longer exist.

Sweet Lord Manson

Today I want to talk about Charles Manson. Everytime I listen a person say anything about him; I think that history was a little unfair with him.

Manson was born in 1934 and he was known by the whole world because he supposedly was the leader of the Manson Family, a satanic cult who committed several murders in the 60’s.

Charles Manson was convicted of a crime he did not commit.  He was sentenced to death, but this sentence was commuted in 1972.  Finally, he was sentenced to multiple life sentences and was never at the crime scene.
People said that in prison Manson became crazy, but he became a musician. His music is very strange, but his lyrics are pretty good. This part of him even influenced a musician like Guns and Roses, System of a Down and of course Marilyn Manson.

Now he is arrested in California Medical Facility, in Vacaville. His most recent public appearance was in 1987 on television, he claimed he had nothing to regret.

The return of S.O.A.D.

I like this photograph... if you can only see four guys that is because you don't know who they are. They are System of a Down and this photograph was taken by Greg Waterman, the band's official photographer.

In the photograph you can see the Tsar’s castles in Moscow, in front of it are the members of the band standing on the street, like The Beatles did on Abbey Road. It was taken in September of 2010 when the band decided to return after the “hiatus” that they took in 2006.

Finally, this photograph became the poster of their world tour that in October of 2011 brought them to Chile, this fact made it my favorite photograph. Before the concert I was at the hotel, I met the drummer, John Dolmayan, and Greg Waterman. It was great because we, the people that were there, were photographed by the same photographer of our idols.

Music

I will talk about music. Platón said “the music is to the soul what gymnastics for the body”, but I think that it is wrong, the music is more important than everything. Is very difficult to me think the life without music. I couldn’t…

Always, even when you are an unborn, you are listening… you are listening the world. It is really interesting to me; know for example how to influence the music in the development of children. However, time ago I listened on Tv a report, it’s said that Mozart effect’s isn’t real.

After I read an article in the web that said “the music is very important during the first years, childhood is a complicated moment of our life and children are searching how to be themselves”. Well,  is only an article on internet, but I prefer think that.

My recorder

I hate technology… Well, I think that technology is not the problem; the problem is that I don’t know how to use it.

But, if I must choose my favorite piece of technology, I would probably say it is my recorder.  The first time I used it, I didn’t understand anything, not even how to turn it on. It really was a disaster because when I bought my recorder I needed to use it the same day.

Finally, after many attempts, I was able to turn on my recorder, but the next problem came when I wanted to  turn it off.
